Sample Reference Page (PDF)
References are a way for employers to find out more about you, your skills, and your work ethic.
- References do not go on the same page as your resume. Use another sheet of paper with the same heading you used for your resume.
- Choose 3 or 4 references who know you well and can talk about your experience and skills while working or volunteering.
- Be sure to ask your references before you give them to the employer.
- Have more professional references than personal references.
- Give the name, title, company, city, state and telephone number of your references.
