Use these tips when creating your resume!

Heading. Use your name, address, telephone number and e-mail on the top of each page.
  • It is ok to use your cell phone number.
  • Only use your name and e-mail on your resume when applying online. This helps to keep you safe.
  • Make sure your e-mail address sounds is professional (don’t use ladybug123@yahoo.com for your address).

Objective. Make your objective center around what you can do for the employer, not what the employer can do for you - and mention key skills you have.
  • Bad: "To get a full time job with benefits in which I can advance."
  • Good: "To obtain a position as a Registered Nurse in which I can use my education and pediatric training and experience to benefit my patients, their families, and the healthcare team."

Education. Include the following:
  • Your Degree
  • Your Program/Specialty
  • Your School
  • Anticipated Graduation Date or Degree Awarded

  • Related coursework (as appropriate)

  • Do include your title, company name, city, state, and dates you worked
  • Don’t include the exact street address, supervisor name, hourly rate, or reason for leaving
  • Do include your major responsibilities and use action words to describe them
  • Do include numbers to help explain you role (ex. Hired, supervised, and trained 15 individuals)
  • Do go back at least 10 years or your last 3 or 4 jobs
