COMPUTERS and the INTERNET
- Does the library have computers with Internet?
Yes. The computer stations in the campus libraries are reserved for students doing course-related library research, writing course papers and doing other course-related work. PLEASE NOTE: If all of the computers in the library are in use and you are not doing course-related work, you will be asked to give up your computer if someone needs it for course-related work.
- Do I need a special login to use the library's computers?
Press the Ctrl Alt Delete keys at the same time. This will bring up a login box. You will use your Campus Connect ID and password to log into the computers.
- What is Campus Connect and how do I find out what my username and password are?
Campus Connect is Ivy Tech Community College's student portal for email, course registration, grades, transcripts, online payments, class communication, college events and other student services. To find out what your username is:
- go to the Campus Connect login page at http://cc.ivytech.edu
- click on "First Time Users Start Here "
- enter the required information to obtain your username
- continue to establish a password
- How do I connect to the library homepage, catalog and databases from home?
Log into Campus Connect and select the Library tab. Click on the small image of the Virtual Library start page to open a new window. Select Virtual Library resources. Your Campus Connect user name and password will be needed in order to use the library databases from off-campus. If you do not know yours, please read the section about Campus Connect.
BORROWING MATERIALS
- How do I borrow a book from the library?
First time borrowers need to establish and confirm information in the Library circulation system. Students may need to provide:
- confirmation of existing system information
- student ID card or picture ID
- your student identification number.
- How many books may I borrow at one time? How long can I keep a book that I borrow?
Up to 6 books can be checked out at any one time. Books are checked out for 2 weeks at a time. A book may be renewed unless another patron has placed a hold on it. Books may not be checked out over semester breaks unless you are registered for classes for the following semester.
- How do I renew a book?
- visit the library in person with the book you wish to renew.
- Are there fines for overdue books? What if I lose or damage a book?
Currently, the Wabash Valley libraries will forgive overdue book fines when the book is returned. If a book is lost or heavily damaged, the replacement cost is $50.00 minimum or the cost of the book if it is greater than $50.00. PLEASE NOTE: If you fail to pay your fines and/or fees, your borrowing privileges will be suspended and you will not be able to register for classes, graduate or get a copy of your transcript until your account is paid-in-full. Can I check out videos or magazines? Some videos may be checked out, but most may be used only in the library. Magazines and journals may not be checked out.
- If you don't have the book I need, can you get it for me?
Books and journal articles not available in our library may be requested from other libraries. The delivery time varies depending on which library has the book:
From other Ivy Tech libraries, 3-8 days
From non-Ivy Tech libraries, 1-2 weeks Please see a librarian to arrange for this service.
