Co-op Terminology
Co-Op vs Internships.
We tend to use these terms interchangeable, but there is a difference. Both words imply Work Experience.
Co-Op
Working more than one semester, and alternating two or three work sessions with school. A co-op student would have an approved work/school schedule that would identify semesters in which they would be away from college working full time, and other semesters they would return to school as a full time student.
A co-op schedule can also include working part time (15-20 hours per week) following one or more full time work sessions.
Co-op students have a written agreement signed by the college, employer, and student.
Internship
Working just one time, usually a semester.
