Agriculture
Agriculture has arrived at Ivy Tech Community College – Wabash Valley! The new degree program was developed with Purdue University‘s College of Agriculture to make agricultural education more accessible for Indiana residents. The program offers both Associate of Science and Associate of Applied Science options.
The Associate of Science is designed to prepare individuals for course to course transfer to the Purdue University by meeting several of the requirements for the bachelor’s degree while capitalizing on the experiential learning offered on a smaller community college campus.
The Associate of Applied Science in Crop Production will provide students with the technical and management skills needed to enter the workforce in middle management positions. More specifically, the objective of the crop concentration is to educate students to maximize the quality and quantity of row and forage crops through the application of scientific principles and use of technology.
While seeking a degree that leads to good paying jobs, agriculture students at Ivy Tech will have the benefits of affordable tuition, personal attention and credits that transfer. Students in the new Agriculture program will also have an opportunity to help establish and participate in a collegiate Future Farmers Association chapter.
High school students will also have the opportunity to benefit from the new Agriculture program at Ivy Tech Community College – Wabash Valley. Dual credit opportunities will soon be available for high school juniors and seniors participating in specific agriculture courses.
