Biotechnology
Biotechnology is a rapidly emerging field in with an unmet need for a highly skilled workforce. Graduates of the Biotechnology program will enjoy a wide range of employment opportunities in life sciences fields, including pharmaceutical, agricultural and medical manufacturing and research.
The Hudson Institute predicts that Indiana's life sciences and biotechnology industries will create 45,000 jobs over the next five years. The new biotechnology degree will prepare students for both existing and emerging jobs in these expanding disciplines.
The Associate of Applied Science in Biotechnology degree is a two year program which requires 67-68 hours to complete. A combination of lecture, laboratory instruction and internship in a local industry or research facility will prepare graduates to enter the workforce trained in a wide variety of skills including genetic engineering and DNA analysis, protein purification and cell culture.
