Associate of Science in General Studies
The General Studies Program offers a curriculum that leads to an Associate of Science degree that facilitates transfer to 4-year colleges and universities or enables students to enter the job market. Candidates for this degree must complete the college requirement of a minimum of 63 semester hours of credit that includes 33-35 hours of General Education. Candidates can choose to complete an additional 30 hours of course credit in General Education or opt to complete 30 hours of Professional or Technical course work.
Regular advising is a central component of the General Studies Program. Candidates are encouraged to maintain frequent contact with their academic advisor, and are expected to work with their advisor prior to registration each semester. Students who do so are more likely to meet their educational objective. Although graduates can use this degree to enter the job market, transfer to four-year colleges and universities is often the goal for graduates; therefore increasing the need for student/advisor contact. Students wishing to transfer should have continuous communication with the receiving institution.
