Student Government Association
What is SGA?

As the governing body of the student population, SGA’s role is to act as a liaison between the college administration and the student body. The Student Government Association strives to voice student opinions on all issues that contribute to the betterment of the social and intellectual life at Ivy Tech Community College. In addition, SGA provides certain services to student organizations such as official recognition and distribution of funds.

What does SGA do around campus?

SGA provides opportunities to develop your leadership skills by offering a statewide leadership conference in the fall; SGA provides opportunities for students to interact with members of the administration; SGA hosts a variety of student activities, such as the Student Appreciation Day and the Graduation Banquet; SGA represents students and their opinions to improve academic and student life at Ivy Tech Community College.

So how do I get involved?

Any currently enrolled Ivy Tech Community College- Wabash Valley Region student may be a member of SGA. Attending meetings provides students with an avenue to directly engage in conversation with other students, student senators and officers and to understand what is currently going on in SGA. Any student may join a Senate committee to assist in the planning of events or to address a student concern.

Students may run for an elected office, such as President; or the may apply for a Senate position. Senate members represent individuals of their respective program/division and are part of the legislative body of the SGA. Members of the Executive board lead the operation of Student Government, chair committees, and engage with College administrators to help bring about change.

The Student Government Association provides an opportunity to make a real difference at Ivy Tech Community College- Wabash Valley. SGA is looking for any motivated students who want to make an impact. No experience is required- just the desire to get involved and make a difference!
