Student Affairs
Philosophy and Purpose
The primary mission of student affairs is to facilitate student learning and development. At Ivy Tech, this is accomplished through an infrastructure of outstanding, customer-driven services and by providing opportunities for students to achieve the goals of human development. Those goals include mastery of knowledge, the ability to think critically, cultural awareness, values clarification, self-awareness, inter and intra-personal skills, and a sense of community responsibility. The goal of student affairs parallels the heart of Ivy Tech's mission: To assure student success.
Vision of the Future
Our vision is a composite of the following:
- We will strive to make all citizens of Indiana aware of the opportunities Ivy Tech has to offer, fulfilling the College's mission, and thus enhancing the potential for strong, growing enrollments.
- We will strive to assist the students in meeting their individual and collective needs.
- We will work as a team, forming partnerships with other organizations internal and external to Ivy Tech, including but not limited to faculty, other administrative areas, collegial institutions of higher education, businesses, community organizations, government, and professional organizations.
- We will use technology aggressively and wisely to empower our staff and enhance our ability to serve students by increasing our capacity to be productive and sharpening our "competitive edge."
- We will strive to ensure that staff, in an era of constant and rapid change, is prepared with adequate professional tools and skills to optimally serve our students.
- We will use constant, appropriate evaluative measures to assess our overall level of quality and how we can collectively and individually improve quality.
